Megha Kumari Baniya
Introduction
On July 11, 2026, we, the teachers of Deerwalk Pokhara School, were excited to start our hike. The plan was to arrive at 7 a.m. Some teachers arrived early, and some were late, it is because we are Nepalese. At 7:20 a.m., we all gathered at school, and around 7:28 a.m., we boarded the bus and began our journey. It was raining when we started, and we picked up a few other teachers along the way.
We gossiped, laughed, and shared our excitement and joy with each other on the bus. For a few of us, it was our first hike, while the experienced teachers shared their amazing past memories. All those interesting conversations, along with the cool breeze and raindrops slipping through the windows, made it truly wonderful.
Soon, our bus stopped at Sarangkot. We clicked pictures, and some kind people helped us take our group photo, and we are very grateful to them. Then we went looking for a good breakfast spot. Since it was early morning, we decided to have something light. Finally, we found the perfect place: Green View Restaurant. We ordered boiled eggs with curry, tea, and juice. While waiting, we were literally exhausted, so we passed the time by taking more pictures and making TikTok videos. After almost 20 minutes, our order arrived. The curry was absolutely awesome, totally worth it. Tea and juice were good too.
After some rest, the real journey began. We headed to Panchamukhi Ganesh Temple, clicked more pictures, caught a glimpse of the deity, and started walking. People around were staring at us like we were tourists or celebrities who had never seen Pokhara before, because we were literally taking photos and making videos every second. Jokes aside, the stunning views made us click again and again. This was the first time I had experienced such moments, and I was completely lost in them.
Then we moved ahead, and it felt like a race. One moment someone was far ahead while others barely moved, and the next moment, another person was leading. Then came the difficult stretch, right through the middle of the jungle. We conquered the hills along the way, and trust me, it was adventurous and daring all at once. Every step brought us closer to nature. While climbing, we sang lots of songs, made fun of each other, recalled past memories, and shared them amidst the greenery.
There were too many leeches, too. They were biting us, and I was so scared of them, but other teachers helped remove them. We continued through jungles, ukalo, oralo, and chiplo bato. It was easy at first because the weather was in our favor: rain, cool climate, a proper hike. But after a while, the sun showed its real form. As soon as the clock hit 12, the sun grew angry and poured its heat on us. The road got hotter and hotter. People with fair faces turned as red as fresh tomatoes, and our hands were completely tanned.
At one random spot, we sat down and had homemade snacks prepared by the teachers. Everyone brought different dishes, and we shared them, getting to taste a variety of flavors. We rested there for a while, sharing food and laughter. It was an amazing time. After a short break, we resumed our journey with positive vibes.
Beyond exploring nature, this hiking trip strengthened our spirit of teamwork, kindness, and environmental responsibility. Through helping one another, sharing jokes, singing songs, and celebrating every moment together, we built stronger friendships and created memories that will stay with us forever. We saw so many beautiful views. Our Tej sir was very happy. Whenever he spotted a great view, he'd call us to make videos and click photos, and he made sure no one was left behind. This hike gave us a chance to get closer to each other. We made a TikTok video on "Chal Chhaiya Chhaiya," and we all loved dancing to that song.
After a few hours, the weather turned cold again, and we were so relieved because the sun had really frustrated and tired us out. Then we continued in three groups: one ahead, one in the middle, and one of those who were extremely tired and could barely walk. During this hike, I fell down and got injured, and so did others, but we never forgot to smile and enjoy every moment.
Eventually, we reached our destination. We took in the scenic views and clicked more pictures and videos before continuing our walk, soaking in nature. At a small village, we met two little girls who were incredibly sweet and kind. Some of our colleagues needed to use the washroom, and the girls kindly let us use theirs and chatted with us so warmly. We thanked them, said goodbye, and moved on.
Later, we all sat at a cool spot and made chatpat-a typical Nepali fast food.. Tej sir spotted a shop in that village and bought noodles for it. Our dearest Laxmi ma'am and Kalpana ma'am made the chatpat, and trust me, it was too yummy. We all loved it and ate like there was no tomorrow. My mouth is still watering just remembering it!
Then we continued, and some of us, including me, were really struggling to keep our feet moving on that path. I was silently praying, "God, please help me reach the end." Anyway, we walked steadily and finally reached the road where our bus was supposed to pick us up. But some teachers were still full of energy and wanted to walk more, so they went further to Naudanda. The rest of us sat at a small shop, making videos and clicking photos.
After a while, the energetic group came back, and the bus arrived too. When we saw the bus, we ran and raced each other to grab window seats, just like little kids. And trust me, it was so much fun! Guess what? We took more photos and short clips from the bus. Some teachers were so tired that they fell asleep as soon as they sat down, while others, including me, enjoyed the views with music playing.
The rest of the journey was on the bus. We stopped at a beautiful restaurant at the lakeside, Jetho Budho Bhansa Ghar, and had a Thakali Khana Set, enjoying the mesmerizing view. We ate, gossiped for a while, and then it was time to leave. We boarded the bus and returned to school. After taking a short rest, we headed home with tired bodies but hearts filled with new experiences, cherished memories, and a sense of accomplishment.

Conclusion
In conclusion, the Naudanda hike successfully demonstrated the power of collective effort and shared leadership. While reaching Kaskikot was our physical goal, the real success lay in how the team communicated and supported each other during the steepest climbs. Every member stepped up to encourage one another. Most of all, our Tej sir ensured that no one was left behind, just like a father. This experience proved that our group can adapt to challenging environments, and the bonds we built on this trail will undoubtedly carry over into our school community.
The decision to conduct this hike in such a place was a wonderful thought from our respected teachers. It was truly a memorable experience, and I hope to take part in more hikes in the coming days. This hike gave us beautiful memories and a sense of eternal peace. A person can never say no to hiking in such an amazing environment. Although we had to walk a lot, literally a lot, and got injured too, the views, scenery, and green forests made it absolutely worth it. I'm not going to lie, I personally loved it. Even though it was my first hike, I really, really liked it.
Recommendation
After all this experience, I would definitely recommend hiking in Naudanda. It would be a perfect place to spend quality time with family or friends. The view from the top of Kaski Kot is a must-see. People of every age, especially teenagers and young adults, should plan a hike here. The beautiful views and friendly atmosphere will become your best friends once you visit. I highly recommend everyone to visit this paradise at least once in their life.
