The Friday of 11th Poush, 2082 was not a usual school day for the 2nd Grade young learners of Deerwalk Sifal School. Neither was it a normal working day for the teachers. We all were at a high spirit of excitement and enthusiasm. The reason – a one-day-hiking-trip was to befall on the very day for all of us. The children were extremely happy but with a sense of a little nervousness as they had to walk the hill along with their friends and teachers. While some students were used to hiking, others were novice. The temperature out was low in the weather yet every hiker was
got set with a feeling of warmth within. They seemed to be very excited for the hike, more than that of tidbits and the cuisines they brought. We took our school bus route no 10 after kids had their early lunch. As soon as the songs were played of their choices, children started singing and waving hands. It was noisy inside the bus but was vibrant with their giggling and laughing. We departed from school at 10:05 am and reached to Suryavinayak Temple at 11:10 am. We commenced our hike exactly at 11:15 after children gathered all their stuffs.
The hike lasted around 1 hour and 15 minutes and covered a total distance of 2.5 kilometers. Throughout the journey, students learned about the plane crash event that had occurred in the past and gained valuable knowledge by observing different landforms along the trail. The little ones were guided and escorted by teachers and an Aaya didi. The height and steep pathways made some children quite nervous whereas the rest were overly ecstatic and excited. Some children were so social that they were happy to share their lunch with the teachers. The young hikers were being followed by a couple street dogs who appeared to know the route and were providing guidance. These were highly sympathetic and entertaining for kids.
In addition to learning, the children enjoyed various fun activities. They played Hiding Hanky, shared food with friends, and posed for photos and videos at different spots. These activities helped promote teamwork, friendship, and enjoyment among the students.
Overall, the hiking trip was fun, slightly adventurous, and very enriching for the young children. It provided them with a wonderful balance of learning, physical activity, and enjoyment, making it a memorable experience for everyone involved.
