Bijay Paudel
Last Friday, our Grade 9 and 10 students went on a hiking trip to Dhampus. It turned into one of the most memorable adventures of the school year. We began our journey early in the morning, filled with excitement and energy about what the trail had in store for us. After a refreshing bus ride filled with laughter, we finally reached our starting point, Ghatekhola, at around 10:20 AM.
The hike was fun but challenging. We climbed nearly 1,000 stairs along the way, which made us tired, but we encouraged one another and kept going. On the way, we observed the local culture, traditional houses, and the beautiful nature around us. At one point, we even found a swing and played for a while, laughed together, sang songs, and enjoyed our break.
While climbing up, something special happened. I suddenly saw the same resort where we had our picnic when I was in Grade 7. Nothing had changed there. Seeing it again brought back many memories and made me feel happy and nostalgic. It felt as if my old memories had come alive again.
When we finally reached the top, the view was amazing. The mountains, the fresh air, and the peaceful surroundings made all the climbing worth it. The breathtaking view made every step worthwhile. The wide open sky, the green hills, and the calm environment felt like the perfect reward for our hard work.
While returning, we took a different road. The first road we climbed up from was in very bad condition- rocky, dusty, and difficult. But the road we used to come back was new, smooth, and very comfortable. It felt like walking through a completely different place.
