One Day Dakshinkali Hike
One Day Dakshinkali Hike

Raman Pandey

Raman Pandey The hike started early. We left college at around 7.15 AM and headed to our destination, Dakshinkali Mandir. We stopped there for a quick visit to the temple and worshipped the goddess. After that, we all gathered for the group photo. As the way to sisneri was a long route, we decided to hike a shorter distance so we decided to take our vehicle to almost the destination. However, the road condition didn’t favor us. So, we had to walk. After around 2 hours of straight walking, we reached our destination. The natural swimming pool was not much of what I had expected. However, the water was fresh, clean and made the struggle worth it. We played there for about 3 hours and had lunch. After that, we had to walk back to the Bazar area where our vehicle was waiting for us. It was already 5 in the evening so we took lift from the tippers and pickup van to save the time. The bumpy ride will be remembered, for sure. Then, we reached to bazar and had dinner. Then we took our vehicle to get back to college. The day was well spent.

Shrayash Shrestha On june 18th, 2018 DWIT Hiking club organized a one-day hike to Sisneri via Dakshinkali. There were a total of 17 participants from batch 2021, 2020 and 2019. All the selected hikers gathered at DWIT and left the premises at 7 am Sharp. At around 9 am, the participants visited and worshipped Lord Dakshinkali and stopped for a short breakfast. Before the breakfast, we had a 30 minute hike to reach Dakshinkali through hills. After a good breakfast, we then travelled in bus till Deurali. The scene on the way was mesmerizing. The road was above the clouds. With the mist and monsoon season light rain, it added even more beauty as the cloud got thicker and seemed like a lake full of clouds from such altitude road. The driver had little problem with the road as mist was thick enough to cover the road visiblity too. After reaching Deurali, we had to hike till Sisneri natural pool. From Deurali to Sisneri, we had to climb down almost a steep hill with little wet grasses adding more difficulties to our hike. As we started climbing down, it took us almost an hour to reach to the Sisneri. But the way to Natural Pool was still about 2-3 hours long walk. However, the way to Natural Pool was very adventurous and full of natural beauties. We had to cross river and thus all the hikers had to walk barefoot with shoes in hand. This was totally a new experience. Walking on the flowing water which also flowed away our stress of hike done on the hills. After 2 hours, we finally reached the Natural Pool. Big rocks, pure cool water already all were interested to dive into the water. We played in water for about 2 hours and then we hiked back to Sisneri Bazaar where our hike finally ended as the college bus came to pick us there. Moreover, it was totally a new experience diving into the natural cold mountain water making all the stress go off and teaching us to “go with the flow of life”. A big thanks to hiking club to conduct such interesting and adventurous hike in middle of busy city life.
