Many years ago, I had a mentor while I was working at American Management Systems who took several months off from work to go trekking in Nepal. When I heard about his trip I hoped that one day I would get a chance to do the same. My chance finally came when I joined Verisk Analytics as its CIO. My visit to our office in Kathmandu would be my opportunity to experience the beautiful country of Nepal by foot.
The jungle that even the Mugli, the jungle boy, would have feared going into, and a steep slope that even Tenzing would have hesitated to climb, left 9 last members in the team to halt for a moment and reenergize with some bananas drive away some hovering vultures who were waiting for us to stop breathing. It had already been some time since we had last seen the other team by the time we reached the top of a plateau-like hill. Roads from that point seemed to be going in every possible direction.
Location: Thali to Lamachaur
Date: 02 September 2005.
We were purposed to hike on route from Nagarkot to Sankhu instead we decided to go onto other route and we reached a place called Thali by a cab and got off from the cab then began our journey. We started off with a sloppy trail heading towards Sundarijal, wandering through fertile field of mixed vegetation for next one and half an hour of walking….
This was my first ever hiking with D2 team and I was excited to do so with Rudra. When I was informed to join hiking by email I shared this with my coworkers. They scared me: “you are going for hiking with Rudra…? Enjoy the tough hiking…” and so so.
