It had been such a long time since I went on a hike, which was enough reason for me to get excited for this adventure. We were a group of 13 hikers. It all started from the base of “Hazaar Sidi”. All of us were well prepared to face the scorching heat as we applied multiple layers of sunscreen and had caps and glasses on.
Last Saturday, I was all by myself at home resting and thinking what to do the next day. All of a sudden, I got a call from Pramod dai in the evening in which informed me about the hike with Rudra dai the day after. Since I had no plans on Sunday, I was excited about the hike. Also, it was my first hike with Rudra dai.
When I was packing bag for my second visit to the US, first thing that came to mind was the weather of Boston. The heavy snowfall and extreme cold Boston the last time I visited was all over my mind. Weather prediction for the Month of July was high of 28 degree C and low 19 which was a sigh of relief.
The news of my US visit got me exhilarated from day one. Then began all the procedures to acquire my visa and then the ticket, which took about 15 long days. The thrill of going to the Land of the free was increasing day by day. Thoughts were rushing through my mind as my thought plane needed no ticket, I was already in the land of liberty.
Good thing about living in the Kathmandu valley is that you don’t need to travel too far to enjoy the beauty of nature. After a hectic week there are so many hiking trails where we can go to refresh ourselves in the weekends around the valley. We, the new employees who joined Deerwalk in 2019 decided to go for a hike to Nagi Gumba on 3rd August 2019.
On July 20, 2019 Saturday, Squad C hike was organized. This was my 2nd hike from Deerwalk and an opportunity to meet new deerwalkers. All the hikers from various squads gathered at Deerwalk Complex at around 7:30 am filled with excitement. We left the Deerwalk premises and started our journey to Jharsing Pauwa, Sankhu our hike destination. We reached to Jharsing Pauwa at around 10:00 am. We had some light breakfast and started our hike at 10:30 am.
It was a fascinating experience from beginning till the end. It is an unusual encounter whereby one feels their body shaking but in a controlled fashion whilst listening to the instruction by the trainer. I did feel a little exhausted but could feel the lightness in my body.
The day finally arrived, on the 1st of June 2019, I along with my colleagues Pratik Joshi and Sanjay Shrestha left TIA for Boston for a month. After 18hrs long flight, we reached Logan Int’l Airport via Doha at around 4 pm. We took a CAB to Ashay dai’s home which was about to be my home for the next one month.
Saturday, July 13, 2019, it was raining in the morning but, looking at the sky, I was hopeful that the day will be brighter and warmer as we had Senior Managers Retreat at Nagarkot. At around 1 PM, Sudeep dai called me to inform that the van was on the way to Baneshwor where I was supposed to be picked up. After 10 mins, the van arrived and the journey began.
“Travelling – it leaves you speechless and then turns you into a storyteller”. – Ibn Batuta
True to the saying everyone who has gone for an official visit in Boston, MA has written a blog that tells a unique story about their travel experience. One destination, hundreds of stories to tell. It definitely is a unique experience.
