It was my second International flight and the first one to the States. I was really excited about this trip, which started on July 31, 2019, at 3 PM. It was raining steadily when I landed in Boston, but the rest of the days turned out to be the best ones. I had an amazing […]
Our hike started great. Everybody was on time as we had planned. We left the office at around 7:30. We decided to stop for breakfast at chobar. After half an hour we left chobar and towards Dakshinkali. From Dakshinkali there were two paths that reached sisneri.
“STOP WORRYING ABOUT THE POTHOLES IN THE ROAD AND JUST ENJOY THE JOURNEY” that’s what I said to myself when we reached Kalanki. Little did we know that this is going to be one of those memories that will send chills down our spine whenever we think about it. On August 24, 2019, I, Pratiksha, and Roshan left Deerwalk Complex at around 8 AM to start our fun-filled two days hike to Bandipur. Before this gets misinterpreted, we were supposed to pick up the rest of the hikers Susan, Utsuk, Sujan, Smriti, Roshan, and Sumit on our way. We had with us musicians and musical instruments, singers and songs, and lots of snacks for the journey.
My first ever experience on Deerclean began on a fine Saturday of 7th September 2019. I am not an early bird and waking up early in the morning is a big deal for me but to my surprise, I didn’t even need an alarm to get up that day. As I got ready to leave for the event, I did not know what to expect. Little did I know that the day would turn out to be so beautiful and fulfilling.
It was raining the day I landed at Boston and my first thought was “Oh lord, it’s monsoon here as well”. How wrong I was. By a lucky chance, the days I spent in Boston were very pleasant, not hot and not cold as well, although the folks there said it should have been a bit hot. Well, I was not to complain about the change in weather. There’s not much to mention about the flight which was uneventful except for my unsuccessful attempt at keeping a few millimeters of personal space between this huge lady who was spilling all over my seat and myself without much success. By the way, do you know there’s an electric train running inside the Doha Airport terminal building from one end to another??? Talk about development!!! It’s such a huge structure but one does not get lost because it’s so well managed with full of information, whereas over here a gate sign was pointing to a toilet.
Traveling to the United States was my first international visit so I was eager for the experience. On June 29, 2019, I along with my colleagues Jeevan Timilsina and Harish Thagunna started our journey from Tribhuwan International Airport. We had a long transit of 17 hours, so we got plenty of time to rest in Doha, Qatar. We were picked up by the hotel representative at Hamad International Airport. Our stay was at the hotel Concorde International. The hotel was big and nice. We enjoyed swimming in the backyard of the hotel for an hour.
On the beautiful day of August 17, fourteen of us gathered together in Deerwalk Complex at 8 am to begin a memorable hiking experience. All of us were very excited for the hike. Our vehicle left the complex at about 8:30 am, and the journey began. After about 1.5-hour long ride, we stopped at Nagarkot for breakfast. We were in big group and had to split for breakfast into two groups. We had tea, selroti, egg and tarkari in the local eatery, and after spending for about 30 minutes, we reached a point from where our actual hike began.
It had been such a long time since I went on a hike, which was enough reason for me to get excited for this adventure. We were a group of 13 hikers. It all started from the base of “Hazaar Sidi”. All of us were well prepared to face the scorching heat as we applied multiple layers of sunscreen and had caps and glasses on.
Last Saturday, I was all by myself at home resting and thinking what to do the next day. All of a sudden, I got a call from Pramod dai in the evening in which informed me about the hike with Rudra dai the day after. Since I had no plans on Sunday, I was excited about the hike. Also, it was my first hike with Rudra dai.
When I was packing bag for my second visit to the US, first thing that came to mind was the weather of Boston. The heavy snowfall and extreme cold Boston the last time I visited was all over my mind. Weather prediction for the Month of July was high of 28 degree C and low 19 which was a sigh of relief.
