Photo Description:
Red Machhendranath known as the rain God. The four large wheels of Red Machhendranath are about six feet in diameter, each painted with three big eyes. These wheels represent as four Bhairavas known as Harisiddhi, Hayagriva, Lubtasanhara and Nandakunda Bhairavas. One of the main beams of the chariot on which rest two axles extends seven feet in front and back to the chariot. The beam is known as the serpent king Karkotaka Nag and the mask is placed in front of the beam which is known as Bhairava. This Bhairava Mask was replaced with new Modified Mask from this year 2012 A.D.
