The day started off with some light moments at the office premises itself. Table tennis room was filled with laughter, excitement and fun. Bipul remained undefeated throughout the time, while other members were gathering for the outing. The bus left at around 12:15 pm carrying 24 team members (young guns looking forward for a memorable weekend).
By the time we reached our destination- Mount View and Green Peace Resort, Lapsephedi, it was almost 2:30 PM. It was a bit chilly there and some of our team members were slightly shivering as an unconscious response to the drastic change in weather than that of Kathmandu valley.
After a tea to warm ourselves up, we had our first team building game- The jigsaw. The whole team was divided into four different sub teams. Team CCE grabbed the prize by solving the puzzle the quickest. The celebration was followed up by light snacks and card games. Later, the whole team joined in for a camp fire with BBQ. The BBQ turned out to be the most entertaining time with a lot of songs and truth telling game. The game was supposed to bring out personal facts about the members which were to be testified by the others.
Then, we all gathered for the dinner which was followed by a dance party and karaoke session. We got to hear from great versatile singers from our team and watch them heating up the dance floor. Happily tired (Oxymoron ?!, the whole trip turned out to be so) we went to our rooms to get a nice and sound sleep thinking about the hike the next morning.
The next day, weather sort of cleared out and the team set out for a hike to tea garden situated 5 kms. north from the resort. As always Deerwalk shuttle was there to pick up and drop the team members to the bottom of the hill. After a slightly tiring uphill journey of 45 minutes, we reached to bamboo cottage where we had fresh tea from the garden itself (a bit over rated, considering its taste ). After resting for a while we climbed down to reach the bus and back to the resort for our lunch. After the lunch, with a lot of memorable events in our head, we returned to our office.
To sum it all up, the entire trip was no less than AWESOME; a lot of sweet memories and informal networking with fellow team mates. As a new member of the team, I personally got a great opportunity to get along with the superb members from DATA and ETL team.
Ever since, I had known that the DW will provide a night out for all the teams, I was desperately waiting for the turn of our team ‘DATA and ETL TEAM’. Finally it was on the 5th of October. It was Saturday morning at 11:45 am; we headed towards our destination ‘Lapsiphedi’. The climate of Kathmandu valley when we crossed Sankhu was completely different. I barely saw anything besides fog outside the window from the bus. On the way, there was an announcement for the different group with their corresponding team name, for the team game. I was in the IMS team. We were having lots of fun in the bus; singing, dancing and teasing one another while calling out their crush name. We even introduced ourselves with our nick name and I for the first time in my life introduced myself as a Bikram ,’Tempo’ , and it was really funny.
As none of us had been in that place before, it took us little time to find the way up to the resort. The resort allowed a beautiful panoramic view. We started playing cards and after sometime we played the game ‘JIGSAW’ where I along with my teammates were helping the other teams to complete the puzzle. Though, the weather was cold, we started with the cold beer along with hearty lunch. Gymnastics in the bed was a lot of fun and the moment was memorable. We started dancing at dawn, chilling with the cold beer and playing Bingo. The fun just did not stop as we played Antakshari throughout BBQ. It was all late but no one cared about sleeping, we just went on and on with the cards. I along with other few mates were gossiping, laughing till 4 am, asserting our primitive drunken thoughts.
It was again a great time finding a way to Chiyabaari on Sunday morning. We walked for more than half an hour and the leeches on the way scared the hell out of me .It was I who was more scared of the leeches than my friends .The feeling when we reached the top of Chiyabari was delightful and the scenery was lovely.
