DHL Six-a-side 5th Soccer Tournament Update
D2 had a disappointing exit from the tournament after failing to secure a win in the group phase that included CAS Trading and Smart Card Technologies. Lack of first choice striker was clearly evident as D2 failed to score a single goal in the 40 mins of action played across the two games.
The first match was a scoreless draw played against CAS Trading. D2 could not find a rhythm and was clearly unsettled in the short match with each half measuring only 10 mins. D2 was lucky not to go a goal behind when a swift counterattack from CAS Trading saw them with two-on-one situation. But the CAS striker held the ball too long and Biswa was there to block the shot.
D2 performed better in the second match played with SCT but was a goal down after a swift counterattack from SCT. A clearance from SCT defender struck Sajan’s hand and fell kindly to the path of SCT striker. Referee played the advantage and the SCT striker duly obliged with a neat finish. In the second half, D2 started with more intent and pressurized the SCT defense. D2 was unlucky not to level as two clean headers from Prashanta came off after hitting the bar and an angled shot from Sajan hit the post. D2 poured forward during the last minutes resulting in wide gaps at the back. But neither SCT nor D2 could change the half-time score.
