Hiking Banchare to Thuldanda to Pokharibhanjyang
Pokhara Trip
The van stopped by the Y&Y at 6 am Saturday morning for our weekend journey to Pokhara. Joining Lucien and I were Bhaskar, Roshan, Pramod, Rohan, Sudeep, Pawan, Neeraj, Dipesh, Amit, and our faithful driver, Ram. We stopped for breakfast on the way at a small resort called the Riverside, which coincidentally, happened to be alongside a river. After breakfast, we continued on our journey.
Nayapul-Ghandruk
It was a new year eve, a group of 16 people had a huge dinner at the office cafeteria, feed the van with diesel and hit the road for pokhara at 9:30PM. The speakers of the van were playing annoying songs, so everybody (not exactly) decided to play antakchari. Ram dai was concentrating on the wheels and others were concentrating on remembering the songs they could.
Abu Khaireni - Manakamana temple
Everything went on as expected. Chatting with the co-hikers, jokes and pranks were something I enjoyed the most. I had a nice time with all of my jolly co-hikers. Though I was new in the group, within few hours I became involved with everyone, I felt like they were someone whom I have known since very long and all of them were very friendly and lively.
Hiking Budanilakantha to Sundarijal
The jungle that even the Mugli, the jungle boy, would have feared going into, and a steep slope that even Tenzing would have hesitated to climb, left 9 last members in the team to halt for a moment and reenergize with some bananas drive away some hovering vultures who were waiting for us to stop breathing. It had already been some time since we had last seen the other team by the time we reached the top of a plateau-like hill. Roads from that point seemed to be going in every possible direction.
Lamatar – Lakuribhanjyang- GodavariWe went through such views that can tantalize anyone at any given time. The weather was perfect for hiking and even the clouds were adding to the nature’s beauty and also, assisting us in our proceeding most of the time by presenting us with the shade. This also energized us to proceed with pace and take pictures from time to time of the beautiful views.
Swayambhunath - Syuchatar – Syuchatar Gumba - Amitabh Gumba - IchanguNarayan - Sitapaila
That was the highest point, but the path down the other side of the hill was arguably the most treacherous. Kapil decided to run down the side at full speed, but the rest of us weren’t so daring. We found the road and made our way to the Ichangu Narayan temple, and paid our respects there.
Jiri - Cheese Factory(Cherdong) - JiriAlthough Newton’s second law of gravity came into play, serene sky & bright green field illuminated with resonating light mesmerized us to reach the destination. As we stared over the edge of the mountain with a feeling of awe, our hearts were jocund. The place had an aura of .. ammm “photo session”, soon everyone started giving pose. It was the hunger that pushed us more towards the Cheese factory literally, since we forgot to have breakfast at Jiri, we needed to have ‘Mahi’. Later we had to satisfy with cheese as November is not the season for Mahi.
Telkot - NagarkotEven though 5 people could not make out for the hike, we never felt like we were short in numbers. With Justin and Allison joining the hiking team, it was really enjoyable trip. Furthermore, Lava shared us all with his memories of US in his typical style. Bhanu and Tilak being the photographers of the hike, were able to capture very beautiful pictures of smiling mountains….
Fun on the hillFive sunny hours had already passed since they stepped out of the van. They’d come past a river, many villages and hundreds of eyes gazing at the strangers. A hill climbed up and down, another turned around its waist, another up again. All of them were terraced with various crops: rice in the foothills, maize, millet, even ginger, chilly and tomato as they climbed further up
