I am not sure how true this is -- but apparently, NTC has blocked calling cards from the US. Seriously, can any entity sink any lower? If this is true, there has never been a better opportunity or a better catalyst to accelerate some sort of movement to dismantle this ailing body once and for all. Any comments? If this is not true, I'll be glad to remove this entry.

Yes I heard about this and people are facing significant difficulty while using VOIP based calling cards. Let us see where it goes. Technology will find way to break NTC blockade. Those crazy NTC administrators are far behind the disruptive tech the world today has created. Yes this sort of organization will die soon.

I think NTC shouldnot/cannot play any role for such action. In Nepal there is NTA, Nepal Telicom Authority, who suppose to make policy. But in reality NTC is playing role of NTA because of market monoply.Once reduce in market share of NTC, it goes to the stage of dismantle like other government corporation.

Nepal is going for WTO, which opens all the ways of competition. VOIP is the cheapest technology in communication. This openly challenges the existing infrastructure. Instead of blocking calling cards from US , it should strengthen it's competing capability though the use of technology. Otherwise, the only exception ( in terms of revenue collection) in government owned companies will be no exception is near future.

the clumsy management and engineers must be removed from there and new generation must take control.
