Mental soundtrack

What I call the mental soundtrack is something everyone has. Nobody in the world, no matter what they claim, can still their mind. There will always be some thought, deep or trivial, that occupies the mind. When there isn't, the mental soundtrack comes into play. It will be a song that keeps repeating itself over and over again for some time. Then, the song changes and you're stuck with the new one for some more.

Now, as a guy that passionately listens to true classic rock and metal of the seventies and eighties, I consider my musical taste to be of quite high a calibre. But is that what makes up my mental soundtrack? Sadly not.

Most of the time, my mental soundtrack will be a really really stupid song I picked up on TV or some place else, or even worse: a really, really bad advertisement jingle. I once got stuck with this really bad jingle for two straight months! It is painful.

I wonder if other people have experienced this. In any case, it is a vile thing and one more reason in favour of the apocalypse.

The world must end. NOW!
