2006: A year of political upheavals and hopes for Nepal

By Indra Dhoj Kshetri

December 31, 2006

A year that witnessed the largest political uprising and change ever in the history

2006 will be marked as a significant year in Nepal’s political history. This year, Nepal witnessed political upheavals and people’s profound unity for change. The year began with a gloom: King Gyanendra had declared Municipal polls for February eighth and almost all the mainstream political parties had already declared to boycott those polls. That created a situation of close confrontation between the Royal regime and political parties. King Gyanendra stuck to his stance on holding municipal polls, regardless of whatsoever participation of parties and people. And the seven parties agitating against King Gyanendra’s autocratic rule, decided to move head on against him; to boycott the polls at any cost and make them unsuccessful.

Evil prevails

By heretic (Aashish Dutta Koirala)

December 29, 2006

"You know who's gonna inherit the earth? Arms dealers- because everyone else is too busy fighting with each other."

The movie Lord of War is lucky enough to have managed its way into the hallowed list of my top ten favorite movies of all time. It is truly one of the best movies I have seen in a long, long time. The movie chronicles the life of Yuri Orlov, an international arms dealer (portrayed by Nicolas Cage). The character of Orlov is written extremely beautifully and can be described best with the word SOULLESS.

Why our country is poor? Some thoughts:

By Amar Adhikari

December 29, 2006

This Website contain plethora of ideas with regard to developing our country. These ideas primarily revolve around exploiting “Infrastructure”?, “Education”? and “technology”?.

Undoubtedly, in sharp contrast to poor countries, the rich countries have abundant of universities, roads, bridges, electricity, hospitals etc. So, the solution to the poverty, at least at a very high level, is very intuitive: invest as much as possible in infrastructure, education and technology .As a result of this thinking, millions of dollars have been poured into not only in our country but also in other developing countries, in the form of donation, loan and charity, to enrich education and infrastructure.

Smiles on their face when you were born
When you die they will mourn
No matter what you do they will always love you

Every move you make they know
It’s like you’re the show

Resolutions in New Year? Oh not again! But wait…!

By Siris Bajracharya

December 27, 2006

I heard someone shouting, “Hey Kundan, isn’t this the same resolution that you had thought during previous New Year?” Huh! Is Kundan himself reading this statement? You may be finding some part of him in yourself as he had believed and had put a resolution that he would bring some change in his behavior last year.

Times of year, many of people are contemplating changes they will make in their behavior for the New Year. Many of us resolve to change some behavior that we believe will benefit us. The most common resolutions tend to be about losing weight, stopping smoking, cutting back on alcohol, being nicer, etc. Of course what is interesting about the tradition of making New Years Resolutions is the traditional expectation that we will quickly break those same resolutions in no time! Hmm… seems like you have done it many times. Yes, so had I! But not any more...

Embryonic Stem Cells yes or no?

By Akriti Panthi

December 27, 2006

Embryonic Stem Cells
Background information:
A stem cell is a type of cell that can change into different cells throughout the body. There are two types of stem stems: adult stem cells and embryonic stem cells. Adult stem cells are more commonly used because they are found easily throughout the body.

Is the use of embryonic stem cells worth the thought of killing a life? Could we be able to sacrifice one life to save someone else? Embryonic stem cells are cells that can be found in an early embryo. During the pregnancy the most amounts of these cells are found 4-5 days after the fertilization in a stage of pregnancy called a blastocyst. At that time there are around 50-150 stem cells helping the baby develop.

Holocaust Denial and the Issue of Free Speech

By Amit Pyakurel

December 25, 2006

Iran recently organized a conference on denial of the Holocaust, inviting steadfast condemnation from the West. Many perceive Tehran's conference as hiding the gruesome "truth" about the Holocaust, the ghastly massacre of Jews by Nazi Germany and its allies prior to and during World War II. The massacre took place under the unjustifiable claim that the Jews were an "inferior" and "impure" race unworthy to coexist with the Aryans(Germans).

By Akriti Panthi

December 25, 2006

Have you had a bad day?
A day that you always pray
You pray to stay out of the grey
The grey fog that won’t go away

A box with many locks
Locks which are hard as blocks
These blocks are as sharp as a fox

Who are winners?

By Rudra Pandey

December 25, 2006

I was watching the movie “Little Miss Sunshine” in flight from London to Boston. Movie was OK. But, I loved the definition of winners in the movie. The character of grandfather in the movie defines winners like this “those who are not afraid of losing and who try different things are true winners – it does not matter what the end result may be”. Very true – many people in the world do not want to try new or challenging things because they are afraid of losing or getting embarrassed. When one does not try or does not even participate, winning is not going to be for the person. After I heard the tag line, I turned the movie off because I did not need to watch the rest of the movie. Thousands of questions started to hit me. I felt like I got mantra for my own life. Why did I felt so? The definition of winners was not new to me? Why was the definition coming from the old character in the movie making me feel so much restless? Why was the definition challenging me even when I was accepting it whole heartedly? I had no clue of what was going on in mind.

Observing Christmas in Secular Nepal and me

By Indra Dhoj Kshetri

December 25, 2006

Till May 18, 2006, Nepal was constitutionally ‘a Hindu Kingdom’. Many people interpreted the notion as Hindu Kingdom because more than eighty percent population followed Hinduism. So why Hindus enjoyed certain more privileges then the other religious people. For example, many Hindu festivals were declared national Holidays, including Dashain on which national holidays are declared for nearly half a month. (Nowadays, the period is reduced to ten days.) However, in recent years, when non-Hindu communities including indigenous protested, the notion was defined as a Hindu Kingdom because only a Hindu and an Aryan could become King.

Should schools start later in the day?

By Akriti Panthi

December 24, 2006

“Without enough sleep, we all become tall two-year-olds,” said Jojo Jensen but not is it tall two-year olds or aging teenagers?
Should high schools start later in the day just to give teens a longer time to sleep? Many studies have been done saying that teens don’t ever get enough sleep and many car accidents occur of sleep deprivation. Teens feel more alert at a later time and using that most schools could get a better grade at school instead of trying to get some sleep in the class. If schools started later when a teen would be able to have their life; once they get home its homework, work, etc. Yes, high schools should start at a later time to let teens catch up on their sleep to get better grades, to stay out of sleep deprivation, and to keep them healthy.

Music of Nepal: Dying???

By Ankur Panthi

December 23, 2006

With the recent breakthrough in communication, people are able to communicate with each other’s despite their location. This communications leads people to exchange of idea amongst people. One of these exchanges of idea is music. By being able to communicate, it influences people on what kind of genre of music should they listen to.
This has led people to blend culture and idea together and first by product of this is music. I, for one, am unsure of result and contemplate on whether to embrace the product or reject it.

Love

By Akriti Panthi

December 22, 2006

A word that many people desire and yet so many walk away from it, one of the strongest words in the world that is abused over and over again. Do we even know what this word that many lust for means? So many definitions for this word but we all have our own way of explaining this word, but can we clearly define this word? We all feel love about something, someone, etc., but how can we tell if it’s love or not? The way we feel the way we would that describes this word is different, no one can love something the same as someone else.
As I walk through my day I hear myself at least once saying “I love you” or “I love that” but when I think about it I might not. I enjoy using that one word; do you? It makes me feel good to compliment something or someone. To give them a little bit of emotion and love. But as I way away I begin to think do I really mean it? Do I really love that person or thing very much that I would help them almost anyway possible? After actually thinking about it I got somewhere. I released that there are many different kinds of ways to love something or someone; so it works with all of those definitions.
What do you think of the word: love?

The gang war scene from Anchorman

By heretic (Aashish Dutta Koirala)

December 22, 2006

How many of you have seen the movie Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy? Particularly, how many of you remember the "gang war" scene? I've seen the movie quite a few times and I find that scene so GOOD that I had to pay homage to it through a blog entry. It is the definition of HILARIOUS. It is an example of what makes the frat pack (Ben Stiller, Will Ferrell, Owen Wilson, Luke Wilson, Vince Vaughn) movies so great. These guys are the geniuses of our times. Stand up and take notice, people.

As I was watching this movie, I realized something: I'm pretty easy to get along with. Here's the gist of it all: if you have seen and liked the following three movies, we can be friends forever!!
- Anchorman: The Legend of Ron Burgundy
- Dodgeball: A True Underdog Story
- Caligula

How cool is that!!

Honesty in management

By Shreeya Shakya

December 22, 2006

The other day in the party I had sat down with our company president to have a little chit chat and during the course of our conversation, I had asked him, ‘Say Kevin.. Throughout your presentation, we heard a lot about clients, growth strategies and growth of the company, have you thought anything about employee benefit schemes in particular? ’ To my question, he had plainly answered, ‘No, I haven’t..’. My instant reaction was ‘Ohh!! I am a little disappointed..’. However in retrospect, lesser disappointed and more impressed was I by the man’s honesty. He very well could have spun a yarn, put forth an assortment of ‘company has ‘this’s and ‘that’s for you.’ But the fact that he was down right honest and told what was there, the truth, was what left me with an impression. With prophecies and dos and donts of management pouring out in galore virtually everywhere, as for me, one major aspect of managers and those being managed (whether they like it or not..) is ‘honesty’.

MARRIED TO THE MUSIC

By Rajendra Keshari Pandey

December 22, 2006

Freedom has no barriers; it will not be and cannot be directed by anyone. It is in each and every individual and will always exist within them. A person is born free and when that life ends, they are again free from all bondage. There was a person in Kathmandu society, for whom even over a hundred years of complex, conservative and orthodox tradition could not restrain his instinct for self-liberation. Born, bred and trained in a so called aristocratic Brahmin family of that time, this gentleman stood aloof, far from the crowd, different and alone in his society. He followed his heart, not his head and we all know that to go against the traditional way at that time, was a Herculean task. But for a person like this, it was simply following his instincts for freedom of expression; he was a rebel out on his own, born free and ready to take on any challenge.

That One Road

By Akriti Panthi

December 20, 2006

That One Road

You have one life to live
That one chance to survive
To accomplish your goals
How do you wanna roll?

To spend it in joy, work, or love?
Or all the above
That one road you may want to take
Hope your desire isn’t fake

For if you do follow that road
Pray that your road won’t explode
It could change more then you can dream
It’s a horrible scheme, everyone wants to be supreme

Our ambitions take action
And all we desire is that satisfaction
We forgot if we could be hurting someone, or something
After it’s too late, the guilt begins to ring

No matter how deep the wound goes
It’ll always be deep inside our clothes
Filling out hearts with tears and coil
Until our hearts begin to spoil

An illness called humanity

By heretic (Aashish Dutta Koirala)

December 20, 2006

I suffer from an illness known as humanity
I am disposed to all its weaknesses and none of its strengths
I reach out in search of what is not
I desecrate all that is sacred within my reach

Two candles that clash glow inside me
I have an inborn belief in what can never be
Until I depart I shall always be in misery
I suffer from an illness known as humanity

I intend to befriend but end up shunning
I intend to love but end up loathing
I wallow in darkness although light I foresee
I suffer from an illness called humanity

CRITICAL THINKING

By Upendra Pradhan

December 19, 2006

On a cold day at home I was browsing through the information HUB - the internet. I came across a phrase called "critical thinking" then I was thinking of our educational system and way we do your work and way we think about them. Just three four days back Rudra on his usual tour to different departments was asking us what direction should be given to students at NEC? At the moment, the things told to him was usual problems that we commonly talk about on our educational system like our educational system cannot keep pace with the market, no live projects practice etc etc. On reading about critical thinking I felt that one of the ground realities is that we normally do not practice critical thinking as students. You may be wondering what this Critical thinking is. There are many definitions of Critical thinking found on the Net.

Working on Instincts - Is it realistic?

By Upendra Pradhan

December 19, 2006

People have tendency work on instincts. While making decisions this may lead to perception biases. This would not be good practice. The person would make decisions in a way that fits one's concept, viewpoints, attitudes, emotion. This would be illusion and escape from reality.

For instance,
See a person!!! You would have certain perception on the person with respect to their clothing, surrounding and people or things around him. If he/she were to be in a different situation you would have perceived the person differently. Once you get to know the person, talk to the person then socialize with the person your perception towards the person mostly differs from your first acquaintance and you are much for clear about person.

Maoists strike in the valley : Some Glimpses

By EverestUncensored Correspondent

The Bait

By Bishwa Shrestha

December 19, 2006

An old man has just arrived the town
feeling lost, feeling down
he stops for a while, rests on the ground
and sings of the pain that he has found

lines of age carves his face
the tired mind has lost its grace
worn out by time, eroded by fate
he awaits patiently for his final bait

Registration of refugees, Will it solve the deadlock?

By Kazi Gautam

December 19, 2006

Registration of refugees Will it solve the deadlock? Much anticipated re-registration of the Bhutanese refugees has eventually begun on November 15th bringing in it a ray of hope among the refugees waiting to see the permanent solution to the crisis. To my mind this can be viewed as having two objectives: to record the precise statistical data of the refugees and to find the actual data of those willing to opt for any one of the three options. However, the latter motive is not stated directly. Here I feel it necessary to stance on the process on hand. This is the only census and the registration conducted after 1990. So this move of the Nepal government and the UNHCR certainly wins plaudits. Nevertheless, how far it would be practical is a question in hand. Over forty thousand genuine Bhutanese have been sheltering in some parts of India and they are not registered in the refugee camps.

Dead man's Voice

By Nishchal Shrestha

December 18, 2006

Featured ImageI used to be a dead man. Person needed to change hospital once every month. The reason was high chest pain and in result high blood pressure and respiratory problem. No one will hope a good life to a person who has this difficulty in life. So, I used to be called as a dead man. Who had no hope that would live any longer. This was already accepted by whole family who were already tired changing hospitals. I still have a pile of x-rays and a bundle of doctor’s prescriptions. Since I am only there son, my family tried every option even showing me to the Mata ji and other stuffs. But problem was increasing.

I had to be admitted at Heart Hospital (Shahid Gangalal) due to high heart pain and was unable to inhale. From some pain killer and some gastric medicine they sent me back to home. I was already taking medicine to control my high blood pressure which was prescribed by top doctor of Teaching Hospital after 24 hour pressure reading and other research. It was informed not to forget taking this medicine for one year, to control by fast heart beat and high pain.

Die bhangeri die!

By heretic (Aashish Dutta Koirala)

December 15, 2006

I see right through your evil eyes
I have been a scapegoat I realize
You cold hypocrite, you spineless reptile
Purge me of your trash, die bhangeri die!

My existence was an ignorantly blissful night
Before it fell prey to your apparently warm light
Now I know I dwell under dark clouds and black sky
All because of you, die bhangeri die!

Bitterness was the crutch I used to survive
You seemed to take it away and make me feel alive
But now it's clear what was really on your mind
You make me sick, harlot, die bhangeri die!

Rush Hour Kathmandu: Jammed

By EverestUncensored Correspondent

December 15, 2006

5.JPG

Rush at Ratna Park
Three days ago, the Kathmandu Post carried an article on the traffic problems in the capital city of the country. It pointed out to the government apathy towards increasing the road network in the city. (See: Apathy feeds road congestion, The Kathmandu Post December 9)

The statistics mentioned in the article presented a scenario how much the government has failed to address the problems of the general public. Following the article, the Everest Uncensored tried to see rush hour traffic at some major road segments in the valley. And the findings were disgusting, of which some are mentioned here.

The CTO in NEC

By Nilesh Shrestha

December 14, 2006

It was 1974AD, the Nepali rock band playing live in the field of Nepal Engineering College, which lies in Changunarayan, Bhaktapur, an hour drive from the down town. I traveled down there by a Jeep, surprising to me that I didn’t realize the surrounding natural panoramic beauty of NEC at that time, may be cause of the crowd gathered for the rock show and the sweet music centric atmosphere.

Topics

This time, it was different. Raj and I were traveling there with our CTO to address a group of students and teachers. I vaguely knew about the discussion topic, but I could easily guess that this could be one of those brand promoting speeches and interaction with students, which we do as a part of our on-campus recruitment event. Needless to introduce Rudra here, Dr. Rudra Raj Pandey, the Chief Technical Officer of D2Hakweye Inc. Boston briefly discussed with us on areas those can be put together to form “Soft Skills” a shape.

Do we need a manager?

By Saurav Thakur

December 14, 2006

After reading a lot of concepts and views in management and management theories I get rather confused what to manage and whom to manage. Probably being a programmer it is not so easy to understand the things right away as written and as different people have different thoughts. Most of the time for a programmers it becomes difficult to mange couple of lines of codes, so how can one imagine of managing 100 and even sometimes 10,000 of people.

I am sick of Morgan Freeman

By heretic (Aashish Dutta Koirala)

December 13, 2006

Morgan Freeman is a great actor, and his greatness lies in the ease with which he can blend in with the surroundings in the movie. You never think "that's Morgan Freeman". That being said, I am sick of Morgan Freeman. Watching movies is an integral part of my lifestyle: not as a social event, but as a true movie lover. I watch movies to "watch the movie" and not to kill time. The movies I watch cover a long span of time. I have watched countless movies to date; and Freeman must have been in nearly half of these. He seems to be everywhere - in space AND in time! He has managed to invade every movie genre. I dare people to turn their television on, switch to a movie, and tell me that Freeman does not star in at least one of the movies that are playing.

Are you selfish?

By Rudra Pandey

December 12, 2006

Try asking this to anyone or for that matter your own self and you know the answer always is “No.”, almost. You might even offend people if you ask this question directly but people always seem to find some kind of pleasure when it comes to passing on the comment all the time like “He/she is selfish. I do not want to hear his/her name. Bla, bla, bla…” Sometime people say this anecdotally and sometime they say with heart-breaking facts that make us real sad and angry. However the facts are always relative, just like they say, ‘ever since Einstein discovered the theory of relativity everything is so relative’. “Selfish” is a relative term and to some extent everyone in the world is selfish. Some go beyond the limit to promote self-interest at the cost of others and some do it just to protect one’s interest without hurting/exploiting others. The later remains very common and former is not too common. However it’s the hurting kinds that make the world disgusting place. What kind of selfishness can we accept and what we can’t? There is not defined boarder line. Acceptable level of selfishness changes by culture and places. But, there are selfish people in and every part of the world. For example, in America, if you ask for a car ride and thank the person at the end of the ride, you paid it back. The person who gave you car ride will not expect anything more from you. The story ends right there. In Nepal, if you ask for a car ride, whoever gives you the ride thinks that he/she did a big favor to you and next time you forget to mention about that, the fellow will cast you as selfish (I am sure there are many Nepalese exceptions to this.)

In favor of war: on behalf of Bhutanese Refugees

By Rup Narayan Timsina

December 11, 2006

Yes, I am one of the poor Bhutanese who were kicked out from the country. I have an aim to help those who are in trouble like me. I also hope that those my brothers who are leading the Bhutanese Refugees’ movement since many years back will one day reach in the summit of their success and on the side of it I too will be supporting them. So dear brothers; it is positive to think of that we have to continue our march towards the destination. I have heard that there are our friends who are ready to fight against the guns and weapons. Yes I too support them. No man will be in the summit without any vandalism. Hope that one day we will definitely win. THANKS TO ONE AND ALL.

Bhutan Absconding from Repatriation

By TP Mishra

December 10, 2006

The Bhutanese refugee impasse is progressively stepping towards complication. Gradually, it is attracting individual refugee and well-wishers into hot debate. This decade-and-half years of pending issue has been one of the biggest burdens for South Asia. Even the world community is unreceptive to the dilemma. The long stay in the unimproved camps under the plastic canopy with hesitant future has multiplied aggravations and dejections within individual refugee.

The Vagina Monologues is an Obie Award-winning episodic play based on interviews with over 200 women about their real memories and experiences ...

Work Smart vs. Work Hard

By Rudra Pandey

December 07, 2006

People who can’t sweat usually have excuses of working smart instead of working hard. Output and time spent are usually directly proportional because in most of the work places people spend only 20% of their brain except for some intense issues. People who know how to sweat and work hard can address intense and complex issues utilizing 100% of their brain when required. I usually tell my daughter that one who has not passed stress test cannot handle complex issues no matter how smart the person may be. In other words, no matter how smart one works, working hard is essential to pass over the hump. I have not seen anyone reach the peak without sweating – hiking, a case in point. Smart ones always see more challenges and opportunities and never stop working. Smart people are ambitious too. Lack of ambition and determination makes us look for excuses for our non-performances and we fail to appreciate successful people who sweat to clear clogs from their brain.

LEARNING FROM JYAPUS

By Rajendra Keshari Pandey

December 07, 2006

I do not know why I love this Newari Language so much. Somewhere, somehow deep inside me, maybe there exists a Newar. Fortunately or unfortunately, I do not belong to a Newari community, caste, creed or clan. But, I know I have never had any problems with the Newari community, its culture and their way of life. In truth, I believe that this is one of the most beautiful races in our country. Their art, craft, culture, tradition and enterprise skills are their main virtues. They are gifted people in their chosen fields and I would rate them as First Class citizens. However, there is an even better class than this, “The Jyapu”. They are the agricultural specialists of this community and we are forgetting the fact that they were once the best organic vegetable producers of Kathmandu Valley. There is now a trend towards organic vegetables in the western world and if you care to verify this, please go to some of the organic markets held in the valley. Most of the customers are Khaires not locals. Let us not forget then, who is teaching our farmers how to sprinkle chemical fertilizers and so spoil their fields in a few years time? Those same people opt for organic vegetables for their own tables! This is a paradox.

Mental soundtrack

By heretic (Aashish Dutta Koirala)

December 06, 2006

What I call the mental soundtrack is something everyone has. Nobody in the world, no matter what they claim, can still their mind. There will always be some thought, deep or trivial, that occupies the mind. When there isn't, the mental soundtrack comes into play. It will be a song that keeps repeating itself over and over again for some time. Then, the song changes and you're stuck with the new one for some more.

Now, as a guy that passionately listens to true classic rock and metal of the seventies and eighties, I consider my musical taste to be of quite high a calibre. But is that what makes up my mental soundtrack? Sadly not.

Most of the time, my mental soundtrack will be a really really stupid song I picked up on TV or some place else, or even worse: a really, really bad advertisement jingle. I once got stuck with this really bad jingle for two straight months! It is painful.

I wonder if other people have experienced this. In any case, it is a vile thing and one more reason in favour of the apocalypse.

The world must end. NOW!

Memories of Days Past - III

By Rudra Pandey

December 04, 2006

First four years of my Kathmandu stay was in my aunt’s (Phupu’s) house in Dilli Bazar. During the final days of grade five, my aunt’s husband passed away and it was difficult time for all of us. As per brahmin tradition we were not supposed to see her until after a year of her husband’s death. I hated the practice for two reasons. First, I did not know where to stay during the sixth grade. Second, I wanted to be with my aunt when she was really alone and she needed us the most. Anyway, nothing I could do against the several generations long practice.

Getting ready for dark and shivering cold!

By EverestUncensored Correspondent

December 04, 2006

Very soon Kathmandu’s temperature will go below the freezing point and people here will be shivering with cold in the dark nights owing to power cuts

Nepal is second richest country in the whole globe in terms of hydro resources. It has a huge theoretical potential for hydropower, estimated to be in the region of 83 000 MW and the economically feasible potential is assessed at 42 000 MW. However, it has only produced 600 MW. Owing to the lack of financial resources, most of the people are forced to live under darkness in Nepal. Less than 3% of Nepal's rural population has access to electricity whereas the total population having access to electricity amounts nearly to 20%.

(Continue to find the load shedding schedule for the valley.)

I like… (Excerpt from my diary)

By Amit

December 04, 2006

"I would like to do things on my own. I like to relax. I cannot control the tough emotions. I like to live life naturally. I want to live an ordinary life. I do not wish to be the millionaire and live the bustling life. I like to live the serene life. I would love to live like an ordinary person with no fear of anything. Just live as the life goes. What's the point in working 14 hours a day? What's the point worrying too much about the future? What's the point going abroad and keep traveling? What's the point achieving a doctorate degree?

Definition of freedom

By Ankur Panthi

December 04, 2006

Lately in the media, I have heard the word freedom countless time. Nevertheless, what does this word mean to us people? People loosely use this word with out understanding the actual meaning of the word. Is it perhaps that people do not know what freedom means? Furthermore, I believe the media and press is miss using the word freedom. Freedom is rather important gift that we as human beings conceal in us but everyday the word freedom is loosely tossed around with no meaning at all.

“Ahhh it’s snowing” I shout
School’s out without a doubt
As I scream and shout
I race to the door to get out

The smiles, the grins, the joy
As I rush out to enjoy
That one flake of snow
O how I want to go

Outside in that blanket of white
Those flakes are always so bright
Right when I wake up I jump to my window
And peak out hoping to shout hoooowow

Still long way to go …

By Binaya Neupane

December 03, 2006

I was watching a Nepali television channel which on Sunday highlighted the opinions of government negotiator Pradip Gyawali that the Interim constitution will be ready within a few days. This news obliged me to think a little. If I were not wrong, I heard that the interim constitution should have been circulated by November 26th as per the November 8th agreement, and it was December 3rd.

The news added in there that the member of government’s talks team has said the timeline could not be met owing to prolonged discussion over arms management agreement and delay in sending Maoist combatants to cantonments. Minister Gyawali further added since there are no major differences, he expected to finalize the interim constitution soon. At the same time I murmured myself- 'let's hope so… after all this is Nepal. We don’t have other options than strictly following the principle 'wait and see'. The deadline has crossed just a week and let's hope it won’t cross a month or year.

Every one is in search of Opportunity…

By Binaya Neupane

December 03, 2006

DV,PR, WORK PERMIT, if you think from one dimension, is one of the easy and luckiest ways to get the visa of the United States, Australia/Canada and UK and so on and from another the precious time and opportunity to earn money. Both ways it creates the opportunity, for Nepalese, so what is harm in it?

As per the best of my understanding of Nepalese life and society, almost every Nepali dreams for USA and Europe rather than Asia, why? Is that the country they are dreaming have more opportunity?
