THe Pic ‘Rani Pokhari at night’ is one of the standing site which gives the taste of capital Katmnadu. This pics make me thinks that kathmandu is still in peace and love and bright even there are some political crisis going one. I hope there will be peace soon. I beleive our grand parents and my generation still remember the days when we talked about it or been there or studied in the school books and make you think of captial and make you proud of iconic spot. I hope next generation will also see it.

  2. Photo Fan Says:

From my opinion, the competition is not valid because there is no comparison between photo taken by professional and amateur photographers. LIN editor should consider this fact.

  3. IT Freak Says:

@ Photo Fan: Agreed. I think it should be categorized between professional and amateur photographers.

    @ suyesh
By the way why are you not CONVINCED with the result? Will you kindly make us clear and do help us to know if there is something FISHY about EU: Photo of the month voting.

Well I am convinced because “Quality wise” “Content Wise” and “Message it carries” in this winning picture ‘Taste of Candy’ is the best choice of voters.

  11. suyesh Says:

That is my personal thought. As a normal audience, this pic didn’t convey any strong message to me about life in nepal compared to others. It’s simple as that.

    Thumbs up to Suyesh

    I agree with you.

  13. IT Freak Says:

i think there is no topic as to which category the competition was on. so no question of which photo stands out. but certainly i too agree that, other photos were far better than this one.

  14. Bob Says:

You made it again… Congratulation! Shutterbug

  15. ResponsibleOne Says:

    I am not convinced too.

‘Rani Pokhari at Night’ could have been the winner. Look at the rflection, the glowing architecture and the moment. To get that angle one should wait for a year (chaat). At least it would have exposed the positive side.

It is not good to always have cliche shots of deprived childrens as ‘Life’ in Nepal.

  16. ShutterThug Part ii Says:

@ ResponsibleOne: why don’t you click pictures of Nepal with all glory and do share them here in LIN which will make our heart grow fonder .. hope you not just complain but also show us how responsible you are in making good images of Nepal.

  17. Mr Sensible Says:

    I am new to EU,
    Will not post any review,
    About the team of Judges,
Or about any of the images.
But comments here are depicting callous intention,
Come on guys, this is a place where we share and have fun.
“Responsible one” who is not amused with the result on the EU wall,
You just post a photograph and prove “ShutterThug Part ii” what is “Life in Nepal”.

As always, good job well done “Shutterbug”,
You are terrific, to you loads of respect and hugs.

But, Beware Beware ….Experts of this game,
Mr Sensible is also coming to prove his name,
With sensible photographs, on EU wall,
Narrating stories about Life in Nepal.
    Haha….it rhymes…

  18. EU Visitor Says:

I agree with ShutterThug Part 2. Instead of complaning people should contribute pictures and make this Life in Nepal more vivid with images of Nepal. DON’T COMPLAIN IF YOU DON’T HAVE SOLUTION OR VISION.

  19. ResponsibleOne Says:

Sorry guys, I am no Photographer. cant compete. That was just a request to photographers to show the brighter side of ‘Life’ in Nepal. I am just another regular EU visitor expressing my opinion. I dont think one must be a good singer before commenting about a song.

btw, Mr Sensible, u write well!

  20. suyesh Says:

@ ShutterThug Part ii: You probably have realized that your comment is illogical. You don’t need to be a photographer to judge a photo as said by ResponsibleOne.

  21. Convienced One Says:

    Dear ResponsibleOne,
As far as I know ‘Life is Nepal’ here in EU is not a photography competition and to contribute pictures in this section, you don’t need to be a PHOTOGRAPHER. Lastly don’t take these comments as an objection to your ‘freedom of expression’.

I think pictures collection here in ‘Life in Nepal’ is diverse and it proves your saying ‘It is not good to always have cliche shots of deprived children as ‘Life’ in Nepal.’ wrong. I am regular viewer of ‘Life in Nepal’ and I have never found pictures of ‘lesser people’ posted here without respecting their dignity.

  22. ShutterThug Part ii Says:

    Sure thing Suyesh bro!
You don’t need to be a photographer to judge a photo. And let me take this other way round; JUDGEMENT made by non photographer (like you) of any photo here not necessarily measured as a good judging hoina ta. And as a normal viewer I think this winning picture represents reality of Life in Nepal in comparison to others five pictures. So Why don’t you take this simple way?

    Javed Akhtar and Anu Malik, Indian Idol को stage मा झगडा गरे जस्तो।।। तर last मा मिल्छन सबै जना,,,

Carry on carry on guys, with your fight.
Keep saying “I am always right”!!

  24. EU Visitor Says:

This is no Jhagada but ‘Freedom of Expression’ like Convience One said. I don’t say ‘I am right but prove me if I am wrong.

  25. Mr Sensible Says:

I am not going to prove you wrong or right “EU Visitor” .
I am not an adjudicator here. I am just one neutral  observer, posting my observations. You can negate it, or accept it, freedom is all yours!!

 btw your statement above “I don’t say ‘I am right but prove me if I am wrong.”, to me is something like:
(x3), where one can interpret nothing.

  26. Mr Sensible Says:

Typo in the comment made above, please read it as:

  27. Shutterbug Says:

Thank you all for making comments, compliments and uproars over this picture ‘Taste of Candy’. All these reactions made me learn how we defend not to get portray the harsh reality of our country. I guess every human on Earth dwells such sentiments. And neither running away from such ‘reality’ can help nor making ‘hue and cry’ can erase such reality. Instead we should put some input which we can to improve this bitter reality.

    Photo Fan and IT Freak
First of all this is not any photo competition and LIN Guideline has clearly stated:
Its purpose: The “Life in Nepal” photography series is an attempt of Everest Uncensored to showcase the diverse cultural and natural assets and various lives of Nepal.
Photo of the Month: This is an honorary recognition for the photographer’s contribution.

And please do not underestimating amateur photographers who can beat professionals in so many ways because professionals do photography to earn money and amateur do photography to make his hearts happy. When you work to satisfy yourself, you work the BEST, I think.

Suyesh, IT Freak, Convinced One and Not Convinced One
I respect your views. You all have your rights to be convinced or not convinced. It’s democratic society.

    ResponsibleOne
I disagree with your saying that ‘Life in Nepal’ not always portrays cliché shots of deprived children. Actually you felt that way because pictures of deprived children tough your heart deeply and nudge your sentiment. Don’t think you are alone to feel that way and don’t overlook others pictures here in LIN which brings us inspiration, courage and compassion.

    Mr Sensible
Welcome to this EU Blog community, hope you won’t get vanished like many bloggers in the past. We hope to see your ‘sensible photographs’ on the EU Wall.

I am honored to have your loads of respect and hugs. Thank You.
