Tourists from around the globe enjoying a beautiful crack of dawn at the Poon hill. The Poon Hill is a well known tourist spot within the Annapurna trek route which has over the years been the bestseller among all Nepal’s trekking routes.
This trek is easy, it has enough walking along streams and forests for those who are looking for a few days close to nature, yet it is not far away and involves no high climbing. Ghorepani trekking can be done all through the year except during the monsoon.
Took this picture druing my 11days trek to Muktinath from Beni, Magdi.

Dramatic moment captured in a wonderful silhouette! Looks surreal to me.
Noise is lil distracting in larger view. high ISO?

DreamSky! I have used Kodak Gold 200 ISO Color film and did scanning directly from negative. I agree if I could use film of 100 ISO, this picture would be much finer. This is one disadvantage of Film Base camera that you can’t change ISO as per different light situation. But still at 200 ISO, I am satisfied with grains over the illumining sky.

Oh this is from a color film? Then there shudnt be any noise I think.
As far as I’ve understood, noise in high ISO is a typical problem for Digital photography only. Technically, its the thermal noise at camera’s CCD/CMOS censor which unfortunately gets amplified for high ISO settings (or during long exposures). CCD sensitivity towards light remains the same, only the received signals are amplified.
Film ISO and CCD ISO are analogous to optical and digital zoom ehe.
But high ISO Color films have true increased sensitivity towards light, controlled chemically, which let us capture every detail at molecular level. Virtually trillions of megapixels !!
Choice of 200 ISO film was perfect for this low light shot, I guess the noise was introduced during scanning, again the CCD thingy.

Many thank you, who have voted for this picture and who didn’t. I believe this honorary ‘EU Photo of the Month’ is not just to this click of Shutterbug but for the ‘Beauty of Nepal’. Without a doubt other pictures are also equally good enough to speak volume in context of Nepal and its people. Like many I am also an admirer of Nature of Nepal and one a proud Nepali.
