    Living Life in Peace…

    peace_fly_high.jpg
    Imagine there’s no heaven
    It’s easy if you try
No hell below us, above us only sky
Imagine all the people living for today
    Aha…

    Imagine there’s no countries
    It’s isn’t hard to do
Nothing to kill or die for
    And no religion too
    Imagine all the people
Living life in peace.. ya.. huh

Hope every soul hum this wonderful song by John Lennon and help to bring lasting peace in Nepal. Took this picture during Ninth National Pigeon Flying Tournament 2065 in Kathmandu.

Awesome piece of composition to compliment the picture of Freely Flying Pigeon!!

The song is one of my all time fav. and I would like to append the verse, “You may say I’m a dreamer… But I’m not the only one..”

I never knew that such event as National Pigeon Flying Tournament ever existed and that too for Nine times. Peace and Stability in our Country is what we all have been dreaming for. And let’s hope, we can live that dream as reality.

      Wow!

my dinner is waiting me out there but I just came here and could not stop writing something for this one first.

How could you capture the moment with such precision (see the focus at the eye of the pigeon) and elegant framing?

I used to spend hours watching pigeon flights in my childhood, may be that also helped to hit the chord. But White pigeon in Blue sky — ur work is simply awesome!

Thank you Loona for the comment and appending next verse of the song. Let’s we all dream of peaceful Nepal and make that dream come true.

It’s not only you but many, who have no idea of such sports ever exist here in Nepal. ‘Pigeon Keeping’ is purely a hobby like petting cats, dogs, birds etc. In this pigeon flying sport pigeon Keeper releases seven pigeons from their rooftop (kaushi where they kept their pigeons) noting the ‘exact time of release’ and two Judges will stay at his rooftop monitoring (watching) all pigeons in the sky and record their descending time. Then judge will add scores of all individual pigeon and announce total score. Later this total score is the final score of that pigeon keeper. The one whose score the longest hours will win the tournament. The winner will get Trophy made of silver pigeon, 15 thousand cash prize and certificate. Interesting.. rite?

Well DreamSky! It’s not like, as if I took out my camera.. pointed it at flying pigeons and came out with flying colors in one click. NO! It’s not like that. Being a Shutterbug! I knew what I am going to shoot (Flying Pigeon) so I set the shutter speed to 1/1000 in advance which enables me to freeze the wings of this pigeon interestingly. I also turned on Metric Metering AF focusing mood to focus precisely on flying pigeon within the frame. Then I played the waiting game with my luck minute after minute even hours taking numerous faulty shots. And my perseverance pays off, being able to capture perfect pictures like this one above.

Many thank you for the compliment and your regular comments. Enjoyed reading your creative report of Tour De Pokhara and cherishing beautiful pictures. Pic. No: 32 ‘Boate Dai’ is nostalgically beautiful. I can imagine the adrenaline you guys have had.

Dear Bishwa! Actually white dove is the symbol of peace not white pigeon. Since both Pigeon and Dove falls in one biological family (Columbidae)People consider both as a symbol of peace. I assume, Pigeon and Dove are very peaceful bird, they never harms other living creature. Besides they are purely vegetarian and these may be the reason why Dove and Pigeon are consider a symbol of peace. My assumption could be wrong. Anyway, thank you for your comment hai.

Yea, these are hard shots to capture… and it sure takes few tries before you get a good one… this one’s perfectly timed and came out very sharp. Liked the sharpness around the head and eye.

      A good shot my friend…

Would love to see the larger version of this photo.
