As the name says it all, Ghalegaon is a traditional Gurung(Ghale) settlement situated on the lap of the Annapurna range. It’s one of the villages practicing community based rural tourism. Situated at 2100m altitude it provides breath taking spectacular view of the mountains, an insight into the Gurung culture along with the hospitality of the local community. Though the village is connected to Besisahar by a bumpy 4 hrs ride on a jeep, like many remote villages of Nepal, the village was lacking youths. Most of them are abroad or in the city areas for earning and what left in the village are mostly elderly people.
The picture here shows the first sun rays falling on the village.
