The photo is of suspension bridge which connects Kushma to Gyandi, ie two cliffs separated by Modi river situated in Parbat, Nepal. It is considered one of the tallest suspension bridge in Nepal with height of 135 meters. It is one of the longest bridge with length of 344 meters. It reduces a tough 1 hour walk to about 5 minutes. The bridge has just been completed and is use now. Many people cling to the safety wall of bridge due to the height and length in fear.

344 meters!!! that’s a really long distance for a suspension bridge. It would be a lovely experience to peep down from the bridge.

the bridge looks really terrific one.
I guess the most horrifying moment would be standing in the middle of the bridge and somebody shaking the bridge from other side .. hehe :P

A week ago, I saw a report about this bridge in a national newspaper quoting this as the longest suspension bridge. I guess Bhanu is going to drill down a bit to verify the truth.

But interestingly, searching for [longest suspension bridge of nepal] in Google shows this post on 1st page, 2nd position.
    :)

    Cheers Bhanu!

I think its “Highest Suspension Brige”

  12. Raj Says:

Nice picture indeed… But I don’t understand this is about highest bridge or longest bridge…. If this is about longest bridge then i don’t agree. As Kiran has mentioned, longest suspension bridge of Nepal is Chandani-Dodhara bridge..

  13. Longest and Tallest Says:

Interesting!!! Caption and description says different but as far I know it’s both tallest and suspension bridge because of its uniqueness that it lacks support as opposed to the bridge like Chandani-Dodhara.

Found some interesting story in http://wikimapia.org/12742185/Katuwachaupari-Parbat

Anyway, nice shot Bhanu!!! I wish to stand in between and feel the gentle breeze… ahhhhh!!!!

  29. Sujan Koirala Says:

    Namaste!
Thanks for the photo. It looks to be a very useful bridge.
But I have few comments. I think the bungee in Bhotekoshi is about 160 m high and it is from a bridge. So basically, it is higher than the bridge you mention.
Second, this type of bridge is called suspended bridge. Suspension bridge is one with tower at each end.
    Hope it helps.
